A Week of Non Scale Victories!

nonscale

Last week was one of the best I have had in a while.  It seems like everything is falling into place.

Lots of Non – Scale victories to share!

1st – My pants are bigger! I have to keep pulling my pants up ! Silly , but it is so cool.  I swear its because of my Plexus Tri-plex . A big thing with Plexus is a healthy gut.  I have been taking the probiotic and biocleanse, as well as my Plexus slim pink drink.  I think its a combo of that and the fact that I am just not as hungry anymore. I am not ravenous. Which leads me to my 2nd victory…

2nd – I always finish my food – get every last bite – go in for seconds – always finish that last bite of my burrito.  Not anymore, I just can’t .  I have NO DESIRE to continue the face stuffing.  AND ITS FREAKING AWESOME!!!  I had trouble finishing chicken fingers and french fries this week.  Now, granted not the most healthy meal, but I have ordered a side of french fries before on top of the fries that come with the food. And I couldn’t even finish it!

3rd – I resisted a full piece of cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory.  Yes, I can’t believe it either. I usually get a full piece for myself .  This time, I shared with my daughter and even then could not eat half.  THIS IS GINORMOUS FOR ME.

4th – I got into a pair of jeans I have not been able to get into for months.  And it didn’t require acrobatics to zip them up ! This my friends was such a great feeling.

I also got back into the gym this week! Took it easy but I got in there and moved the best I could!

It was Weightlifting Wednesday.  We started with dead lifts. 3-3-3-3-3.  I warmed up with 85 lbs. I so badly want to beat my 215 lb dead lift, but I have to work back up to it, its gonna be a while.   😦

I started with 85lb as my warm up , then did 105 lb, 135 lb, 145 lb, 150 lb, 155 lb was my final.  Still have such a ways to go.  But I love them dead lifts, so I will keep at it!

Next up was supposed to be goblet squats, but given my knee situation, I did bench squats instead as part of the accessory work. I gotta say, the bending didn’t bother me nearly as bad as I thought it was going to . It was getting up off the ground that was the struggle.

Here is the accessory work :

3 rounds

5×8 bench squats

20 band walk – left and right

10 reverse lateral raises

30 sec dead bug hold

10 skull crushers

Like I said, the hardest part was getting up off the ground after the dead bug and the skull crushers.

Looking forward to what the next week will bring!

Any non – scale victories to share? I’d love to hear about them!

I completed this in ……. get ready for it……. 18:24 !!!!!!   What the frack ?!?!?  I was dying, sweat dripping, eyeballs sweaty, ready to puke, but I DID IT!

Honestly, I believe it was the power of MC HAMMER , that propelled me.  We had a 90’s throwback jams playlist going , along with Hammer , we had Humpty Hump, No Diggity, you get the gist.  I was 2 Legit 2 Quit! It was quite the interesting class.  Coach Jane always makes it fun.

I have got to tell you folks, yours truly , is back at it , back in the game, and the Swim is strong! After the past year and a half of all my various crap, I am back doing what I need to do for me .

Managing my condition, once I had a better understanding of what is going on and how my body is reacting to things with the info from my drs, was number 1.

I needed to get working out.  I really just love working out in this format.  I do. I feel good, I feel strong , I feel fierce. I feel freakin awesome!

In addition, adding Plexus into my daily routine has helped so much . It has really helped me so much, I cannot even put it into words.  I wish I had discovered it sooner.  The funny thing is, I didn’t realize how much I wear my emotions on my face. I keep hearing how people can tell I am feeling better. How crazy is that?   I signed up to be a Plexus Ambassador because this product is now something I  NEED, I do. I figured why now get the most of it as possible.  If you are interested in learning about Plexus or want to give it a whirl – check  out my site : Meg’s Plexus Site.

Or shoot me an email – lets chat. lessthighsmorethunder@gmail.com

I feel better than I have in such a long time.

It’s taken me a while and its a long road, but I feel I am at the start of a great part of this journey!

Sometimes you surprise yourself

Happy Easter Folks!   Sometimes you surprise yourself, I think that is really the best surprise .  I was at the gym 3 times this week .  Did some new stuff and did things that honestly going into it , … Continue reading

Puke. Cry. Fart.

Tonight I had several moments during my workout when I wanted to Puke, to Cry and to Fart.

I didn’t know which way to go , lol.  Needless to say, I held it together.  How, honestly, I have no idea.  What type of ridiculous, hell inducing , spawn of Satan work out was this, you ask?

2 Words.

WALLBALLS

OH SWEET BABY JESUS.  This was a wicked hard one.  I had sweat coming out of my eyeballs.

Here is the workout and how I did:

It was 3 AMRAP’s. Yes 3 .

#1 AMRAP in 7 minutes

4 Hang Cleans 55 lbs

12 Wall Balls 6 lbs.

Go ahead and laugh at the 6 lbs, but sweet baby, those were the heaviest 6 lbs ever, I swear.

I got 4 rounds and 11 reps on this one.

#2 AMRAP in 6 minutes

3 Hang Cleans 60 lbs

12 Wall Balls 6 lbs

I got 3 rounds and 4 reps

#3 AMRAP in 5 minutes

2 Hang Cleans 65 lbs

12 Wall Balls 6 lbs

I got 2 rounds and 8 reps

Like I said I wanted to puke , cry and fart at various points through this workout.  It was a killer for sure.  My back was hurting so bad, which I am sure is a sign I had bad form, but I still kept going.

All in all, I am very happy with my performance.  I think I did pretty darn good.  I am so very sore right now, but I am feeling so great,  Getting back at it and nothing is gonna stop me now.

And did I mention, I did this whole workout in my socks.  I forgot my sneakers!

Remember Why You Started

Why you started

This is all a journey,  right?  I know, I keep saying this, but it so is.  Ups and downs.  I have been through a lot this year, in general.  In trying to keep myself and my family afloat, I have forgotten about me and my journey.  And that SUCKS!

I feel better now, My family is getting settled in our new place , and thats right folks, yours truly is getting BACK AT IT!!!!

WITH A VENGEANCE!!!!

I know I am no fitness role model, but gosh do I love working out.  And I am so so so excited to be back at the gym tomorrow.  Don’t get me wrong, I will be a hot flabby mess, and I will be sore as hell Tuesday, but I cannot WAIT!!!

images-10

Now, peoples usual reaction is ” why don’t you just go to a regular gym?” ” why not work out at home?”  Both good questions, and yes, cheaper options, but at this point = I have found a format that works for me .  Anyone who has struggled with weight loss and fitness knows that finding what works for you  is half the battle.

I’m not making excuses, just explaining, I suppose, but I have had a pretty crappy year so far.  I had a different focus than on myself and my journey and it was all about my family and my health.  Not bad reasons to lose sight of your personal journey , but none the less, I was lost.

As I say, I did not just fall off the wagon – It was a horrific wagon crash with no survivors.

These past few weeks as I felt better and gave myself excuses why it was not the right time to get back into it, I revisited my blog.  Revisited my posts, reread my journey, because, yes, there are things we forget.  I am so glad I decided to do this blog, cause I much as I can remember events, those feelings swell back up when I go back and read about it again.

Resuming the Journey with Positive News!

Happy New Year Everyone!

When last you checked in with your heroine ( me), I was at the end of months waiting to find out if a lump in neck was cancerous or not.

I AM ECSTATIC TO REPORT THAT EVERYTHING CAME BACK NEGATIVE! ALL CLEAR!

After months of emotional turmoil, I got the best end result and for that, I could not be any more grateful.  My life was on hold and now I feel I have my life back.  I feel I have to live life to the fullest.

I am so very grateful from the bottom of my heart for all of you who sent me messages, prayed for me, thought of me, and sent your positivity my way.  I am so blessed, truly, truly blessed.  I will forever cherish all the goodness that was sent my way .

Now back to our regular scheduled program….

keep-calm-and-get-back-to-the-show

I have not done a workout, like entered the gym, since October 15, 2014.  Then, before that, my workouts were spurratic at best.  Here and there for really the last 6 months.

No more excuses my friends.

Got back into the gym this week on Tuesday.  A humbling and disappointing time, but, it had to be done so I can move on.  I am so out of shape from where I was, its disgusting.  I am ashamed I let myself slip back so much into the dark.  So, what did I tell myself? You know it…. Everyone together…

il_570xN.489538417_4ovmThats right kids, JUST KEEP SWIMMING.  And man, did it take a lot to keep me afloat.

The WOD was 3 rounds, the usual suspects.  Cleans, Burpees, Thrusters, lunges.  I sucked it. Hard.  But I knew I was going to.  What I didn’t think I would have to do was resort to the training bar.  Good Lord. The training bar.  I used to be able to lift 65-75 lbs over my head and now I struggle with 15 lbs.

Sweet Baby Jesus.

So, since this was 3 rounds, my goal was at least 2 .  And I did meet my goal.  But, man, was it hard. And the soreness I have been feeling sucks hard.  I knew that was coming, but its something I just gotta get through. I was so sore by Thursday, stairs were excruciating.  I almost wasn’t going to go to the gym, but I decided I just need to get there and move.  Even if it is modified to the enth degree, I need to move and hopefully it would also loosen me up.

I went.  It was a wicked fun workout – granted just about every move was modified but I finished the workout and got a great work out in.  Felt so damn good .  Really.  I do love working out, I love the feeling afterward, I love the soreness, I love the feeling of accomplishment.  I need this.  I need to keep it up.

Lets talk Resolutions.  Do you make them? Do you keep them?

Me, neither, lol.

I do make goals for myself.  For the time being, the goal is to get down under 200 lbs by my 35th birthday in July.  I think its going to be hard, but I do think its doable.   I am going to get back into the swing of things.  I am going to succeed.  I am going to conquer.

Thank you for coming on the swim and sticking by me through the crap.  I hope to make you proud.

Until next time Kids….

Ready for the next phase!

So, its no secret that your truly does not have the best eating habits. I mean I am seriously a baby about it. I don’t like fruits and veggies. Spaghetti squash, yummo, but it has spaghetti in the name, lol.  And potatoes – you know , yummo!  But, the sad reality is , my diet of pasta and carbs, has got to hit the road. The delicious, delicious, delicious, road.    I need to take my fitness to the next level and now its time to get this gal’s nutrition in order.

My plan is to start slow, but making smoothies and sneaking things into my foods I like.  And , cutting down the carbs.  I can’t go completely cold turkey. For starters, I will be replacing the pasta with spaghetti squash.  Gonna be a smoothie queen too.

tumblr_mju9juTznV1r9qk1io1_500

I know, most of you are like, ya, whatever, big shit, you’re gonna eat good, why is that a big deal?  It is to me.  And I am sure there is someone else out there that feels this way too.  Once I get into the swing of it, I will be looking for recipes and I will be sharing recipes too!

Now , onto the past week!

Monday

Monday I did 14.4 , well, what I could of 14.4, which was only the 60 calorie row.  It is what it is.

We did Dead lifts.  Can I just say how much I love working with the barbells? SO much fun! I think I love that I feel strong when we use them, I know silly, but so am I ! Ha!

Here is how I did:

135 lbs x3

155 x 2

175 x2

185×2

195 x2

200×2

I was really happy with this.  Last time we went heavy, I got up to 210 lbs, but it was just for 1 rep and trying to go to 215 was really hard. So, the fact I was able to do 2 x 200 lbs, super happy with.

From there, we did 30 sec on, 15 sec off 4 rounds in a circuit.

35 Lb KB goblet squats

HR Pushups

V ups

Ring Rows

I felt it was a good night 🙂

Thursday

Whoa Nelly, still feeling the affects of The WOD.

25 minutes – 2 rounds

50 OH walking lunges with 25 lb plate – ouch!

25 Hollow Rocks

50 Jumping Pull ups

25 KB swings – 44lbs

50 Tuck Jumps

25 Supermans

50 OH walking lunges with 25 lb plate

25 Hollow Rocks

30 jumping pull ups – this is as far as I got.  Not the 2 rounds I wanted, but definitely a PR to get through the 2 sets of walking lunges for 100 total! I am soooo happy with that.  Lunges have always been a struggle .  I clearly remember last time we did these like this and it really was a WOD killer for me.  So while I didn’t finish the workout, I had such a positive outcome.

It used to really bother me when I didn’t finish, now , not so much, but I think its because I have advanced so much, I am happy just to PR or do better than I did in some way shape or form.

Now, this philosophy is not going to work on Monday. I take on 14.5 , Its for time, so I have to finish.  I checked out the pros times – all in the under 10 range. So that is so not happening.  I am really hoping to be done under 1/2 hr or under 1 hr.   The thrusters are going to kill me if the burpees don’t kill me first.  You know me and burpees.  Sweet Baby Jesus!  You are going to hear ” Just Keep Swimming” alot during that one fo sho.  Wish me Luck!

Check back later in the week for how I did.  Hopefully I don’t myself down!

Adios Tan Band!

You read it right folks! Off of the Tan band and onto 2 green bands for my chin ups/ pullups!  In my gym, the tan band is the most resistance.  As some may remember, I am working on my goals for the 60 day Challenge. One of my goals is Pull Ups.  I find it way easier to do Chin ups, so I did Chin Ups last night.  Coach Jane wanted me to try with out the tan band, I did and Adios Tan Band!  Even though that was the band for me, no one was using the tan band, so it made me feel like Ugh.  No one’s fault, but I just felt crappy.  So, I am so glad to report the tan is gone!  I ended up doing my homework for my pull ups.  I also did my Double Under homework before class.  I was able to get 5 in a row, I am getting better, I think… lol.

Onto the WOD.

Last nights WOD was 3 rounds of 3 different sets of movements for time.  Here is how I did:

3 rounds

5 Front Squats – 65 lbs

10 Toes To Bar – not even close to this yet, so I jump up and do knee raises

3 rounds

5 Power Cleans – 65 lbs

10 Hands Release Push Ups

3 rounds

5 Shoulder to Over head – 65 lbs – I went went the push press for this

10 Lateral Hop Burpees

Time 17:00 minutes

Now, I have to say, I was shocked when I looked around the room and I was done and I was not last.  I think I was in the front of the pack.  I am still wicked slow on my Burpees, but they are getting better.  I am so happy about that.

burpees2

On another note, Can I just say how awesome you all are? I have had such great feedback from so many people from all over the world and it is so cool! Just goes to show, no matter where you come from, we are all in the same boat trying to get fit.

And the Weekly One More! Holy Moly! So happy to see people doing it! Can’t wait to see how everyone’s weeks go!

The Weekly One More 1/26/14

Megs thingsHello there peeps!

It is Weekly One More Time! For those just joining us – the Weekly One More is where we do just one more little healthy/ fit thing each week than we did before.  Its all about baby steps.

This week, my one more, is Take the Stairs.  Yes, is this simple? Yup. You got it.  But think about it, how many times are we presented with the escalator at the mall, or the elevator at the office?  Heck! Even my gyms building has an elevator, and believe me, it has been hard not to take it sometimes!

Any physical activity is better than doing none.  Any movement is better than staying still.

So, its an easy one for me this week, but one that I can’t veer from.

What is your One More this week?
